What if it is raining?
The event series will still go ahead if it is raining so please bring wet weather gear if you feel it’s necessary. In extreme weather conditions, for example, cyclonic winds or an electrical storm, the event will not proceed.
Is it a race?
Yes. Prizes will be awarded to the fastest 4km and 6km teams, as well as the most improved individuals in both the 4km and 6km events.
However, if you do not wish to participate competitively, the series is also a great opportunity to get outside and get active with your friends and colleagues.
How many people are in a team?
Your team must consist of 5 people if you wish to qualify for team prizes. Individuals and teams of between 2 and 4 members can still participate, but will not be eligible to receive team prizes.
What are the start and finish times?
There are no designated start and finish times. Participants can arrive any time between 7am and 2pm to complete either the 4km or 6km course. Once you ‘check-in’ on arrival, you are free to start running / walking whenever you like. Your timing chip will register as you start the course, recording your race time. The last start time on each event day will be 2pm.
What is check-in?
Because there is no designated start time, participants are required to ‘check-in’ before they run/walk. This simply involves stopping by the check-in desk located near the start line so we can record your name and team details.
When can I collect my race kit?
Details of race kit collection will be made available closer to the Series start.
What should I wear on the run?
As part of your race kit, you will receive a Fast Track running singlet (NB: shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed, so please register early to get the size you want). You will be required to wear this singlet while you complete the 4km/6km course for identification purposes. Also don’t forget to bring your running shoes, water bottle and SPF 30+ sunscreen – and a towel if you plan to shower at work afterwards!
What happens at the event site?
The main event site, including start & finish lines, is located at Kurilpa Park. Click here to see a map of how to get there.
There will be a tent set up for registrations / check-in, and a recovery area will also be available to you after your race, providing nutrition & refreshments.
Please feel free to meet up with your team mates post run, grab a drink and cool off on the lawn.
Is there somewhere I can leave my things while I’m running?
Yes. A baggage hold will be set up next to registration / check-in near the start line. You are welcome to leave your bag here free of charge. Although a marshal will man this holding area at all times, we cannot 100% guarantee the safety of your possessions. Please do not bring valuables with you to the event.
What happens after the run?
Once you finish the run/walk, your time will automatically be recorded and contribute to your team’s overall standing in the competition (if eligible). Please feel free to cool off in the Park, meet up with your friends and fellow team mates, and maybe even enjoy a packed lunch if you race around lunchtime. A recovery area will also be set up with fruit and water for participants.
Do we have to run as a team?
No. The beauty of the Fast Track is that you’re free to complete the 4km/6km walk or run in your own time. Your time will be recorded next to your team, and contribute to your overall standing in the competition (if eligible).
Although you are not required to run as a team, we encourage you to participate together – it may be more fun and it’s a good excuse to catch up out of the office.
What if my team members can’t make it to every race?
Ideally we’d like you to participate in all 4 events, but if you can’t make it to each one, don’t panic. As team prizes are based on the top 4 of your 5 team members’ times, one team member can afford to sit out per race without affecting your standing in the competition.
Who is eligible to win prizes?
Teams of 5 are eligible to win the Overall Fastest in both the 4km & 6km categories.
Individuals & teams of between 2-4 are eligible to win the Overall Most Improved in both the 4km & 6km events.
Participants must compete in the 6km event to be eligible to win the novelty prize categories, including The King Award, The Queen Award and Head Honcho Award.
What does the entry fee include?
The entry fee includes participation in all 4 events over the 7 week period. You will also receive a Fast Track running singlet that you can wear when you’re out training in the future. As part of your entry fee, you’ll also receive a gift pack full of goodies.
How do I get to and from the event?
Kurilpa Park is a short walk from Brisbane’s CBD. If it’s too far to walk and you’re looking to conserve your energy for your run/walk, a range of buses will take you to the (nearest stop). Or why not take a CityCycle and pedal to the start line!
